1 Birthday

7 Boys

14  “air-soft”guns (after months of begggggging)

1 mama

1 trip to an outdoor area for a “air-soft” gun fight

Let me take it from here . . . .So we just completed the air soft gun fight and the boys were starting to head their way back to the suburban since it was dark.  I turned on the car to get the lights & air going and it made a funny noise.  I turned it off and did it again and  . . . . nothing.  Again . . . . nothing.  The car was dead.  Not only was the car dead, but my cell phone was too because Nolan had just thrown it into the dishwater a few days beforehand.  So I am  in a pitch black wooded area with absolutely no car, no cell, no lights and with 7 children.  My idea of the perfect getaway.

So after a few minutes of deliberating with the boys, we decided to walk to the busy road and see, well, to be quite honest, I am not sure what I was going to do, but I was hoping something would come to me by time we got to the road.   We got to the road and I still had no clue.  So I waved my arms.  If you are a parent of one of the boys and are reading this, please know I was praying too.  Hard.  Not just waving.  But waving AND praying.

So I’ll finish with the short version: After 10-15 minutes, a kind lady pulled over and let me use her cell phone.  I called Ben.  He called Brent & Jill(our friends with the suburban).  Police officer stopped and said he received a call a woman was in distress from someone driving by  (I laughed hysterically and I thought he was going to “book me” then.)  Told officer my hubby was on the way, so officer entertained kids and waited until Ben arrived.  Ben and Jill arrive and took us home.  Brent arrives and fixes car.  We eat cake at 11pm.  Braden said it was his best birthday yet.   Moral of the story?   When in trouble just wave your arms.  The End.   (Happy Birthday dear Braden!)

Patiently waiting for the “fight” to end.

The nice officer who came to our “rescue” and notice Ethan’s “camo” gear.  He thought stripes were camo.

Tough guys being hauled off to jail . . . . :)   Actually, the officer was showing the boys how to play solitaire on the laptop in the patrol car and took them for a spin with the sirens going.   They all want to be officers now.  I don’t know what sold them . . .  the solitaire or the loud siren.
